Protect your LastPass account by enabling two-factor authentication, which adds an extra layer of security to your digital identity. Even if your password gets compromised, unauthorized access to your account is impossible without the two-factor authentication code.
You can even designate a device as "trusted," so you won't be prompted for codes on that device while still benefiting from the protection of two-factor authentication.
Setting Up LastPass Authenticator
- Download LastPass Authenticator to your mobile device.
- Login to LastPass on your computer and go to "Account Settings" in your vault.
- In "Multifactor Options," edit LastPass Authenticator and view the barcode.
- Scan the barcode with the LastPass Authenticator app.
- Customize your preferences and save your changes.
LastPass Authenticator can also be enabled for any service or app that supports Google Authenticator or TOTP-based two-factor authentication.
Logging In
- Open the app to generate a 6-digit, 30-second code or approve/deny automated push notifications.
- Alternatively, receive an SMS code.
- Enter the code into the login prompt on your device or approve/deny the request.
